Well after a good New Years Eve party, it was a early rise for us as we always climb to the top of Pen y Fan every New Years Day to watch the first sunrise of the year. Sky's had cleared in the night as we could see the stars, but by the time morning came rain had also come in, but we go whatever the weather as it can change very quickly in the beacons. But as we climbed the rain eased off, but was then followed by low cloud and wind. Once on top, we sheltered for a while before the time to see the sunrise 8.19am , but it was not to be, as the low cloud would not move out the way. On our way back down the mountain, we did see the opposite hillside lit up in sunshine.
What a brilliant tradition! We've had many an Easter 'sunrise' service that just wasn't to be. ;) But, look at how beautiful and subtle the light is on the far hill - wow!
